SUMMARY:Workshop: Painting with Wool: The Art of Needle Felting
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of dry needle felting with Jeanne\, including how to use wool and background fabric to create your own artwork. This class covers essential materials and techniques\, as well as making simple 3-D shapes like vases and felted balls (note: not small creatures). If you enjoy working with colorful wool and hands-on crafts\, you’ll appreciate this easy and relaxing workshop. \n\nPresenter: Jeanne Weymouth  \nJeanne holds a BA in Textiles and Design and an MA in Broadcast Journalism\, with extensive experience in communications. Since 2000\, she has been creating\, selling\, and working as an artist. \n\nMaterials to be provided by presenter: Jeanne will have felting pads to loan each student and will provide felting needles\, roving wool and other fibers. SUMMARY:Workshop: Notan: Creating Bold Images in Light and Dark
DESCRIPTION:Ginny will teach participants Notan\, a Japanese design principle that balances dark and light elements. Attendees will create high-contrast designs by cutting shapes from black paper and arranging them on white backgrounds. Participants will also make custom notecards to take home. \n\nPresenter: Ginny Jenson  \nGinny graduated from UW Madison in Interior Design and worked as an interior designer and jewelry artist\, showing her work at art shows. SUMMARY:Workshop: Creating Paper Beads: The Artful Transformation of Humble Papers
DESCRIPTION:Paper bead making has deep African roots and is both creative and meditative. Mary will demonstrate how to use a paper-rolling tool to craft unique beads from ordinary paper. You can spend the session making beads or learn to turn them into bracelets\, bookmarks\, or keychains. \n\nPresenter: Mary Newberry Olson “MaryO”  \nMary is the former Program Director for VSA Arts\, Madison\, and retired as Executive Director of Olio Arts + Music Center\, Wisconsin Rapids. She continues to volunteer and teach visual arts\, with a particular interest in whimsical ceramics. \n\nMaterials to be provided by presenter: Rolling tools\, small brushes\, Mod Podge glue sealer\, wax paper\, paper towels\, and wet wipes\, Items to incorporate into your designs: extra miscellaneous paper to cut\, elastic and other string materials\, glass and plastic beads \nMaterials to be provided by participant:magazine pages\, maps\, sheet music\, painted papers\, old drawings\, grocery fliers\, scrapbook paper etc. Papers flexible enough to roll.
