Artist Statement

My artwork is colorful, fun and unique. Some days I like tedious projects like paper scrolling, mosaic piecing, linocut carving or mindful watercolor painting while other days I want the mess of gel plate printing, painting murals, decoupaging or collaging. I couldn't live without watercolor but I get bored easily and would go crazy if I couldn't play with other art supplies. If I had to define what kind of artist I am, I guess most of my works are mixed media. But Marc Chagall said it best, "I work in whatever medium likes me at the moment."

I have a BA in Fine Arts, a MA in Art Education and professionally trained in graphic arts. Many of my works have some kind of typography and/or graphic influence. I'm a retired middle/high school art teacher and enjoyed inspiring and challenging young adults to think outside the box because I do with my own artworks. I also enjoy art history, photography and crocheting lopsided blankets. I continue to teach adult art education classes around the north woods and creating in my free time.
