Workshop: Notan: Creating Bold Images in Light and Dark

Ginny will teach participants Notan, a Japanese design principle that balances dark and light elements. Attendees will create high-contrast designs by cutting shapes from black paper and arranging them on white backgrounds. Participants will also make custom notecards to take home.


Presenter: Ginny Jenson

Ginny graduated from UW Madison in Interior Design and worked as an interior designer and jewelry artist, showing her work at art shows. Now retired, she enjoys taking painting and art classes.


Materials to be provided by presenter: Rolling tools, small paint brushes, Mod Podge, waxed paper, paper towel, wet wipes, extra miscellaneous paper to cut, elastic and other string materials, supplemental (glass, clay, and plastic) beads for jewelry etc..,

Materials to be provided by participant: Scissors (traditional scissors and small scissors for delicate cutting) Pencils and erasers.

Workshop Fee:  $10 for Members, $20 for Non-Members.

Materials Fee: $10 Participant buys materials directly from presenter at the workshop
