Artist Statement

My paintings reflect my love of my surroundings. They are often inspired by the scenery of the beautiful Northwoods, where I live, or by photos I have taken while traveling. To capture the mood created by an image is my goal. I enjoy looking at a painting I have created and being able to recall the feeling I had when I was at the site. Painting brings me joy and the challenge is to reflect that in my art. I paint using watercolors and have recently started painting watercolor batiks on rice paper.
