Artist Statement

All of my paintings begin with photographs I've taken of wildlife that I know and interact with. Their story and personality inspire the painting so viewers can share the moment. Usually it's sparked by a shadow, a shape or touch of vibrant color in the scene and from there the colors literally decide themselves as I paint. I am always looking to capture an intimate fleeting moment that speaks to the animal or bird's unique life experience.
