Awash in Morning Light

Working with watercolor on Yupo which is plastic paper, gives me such a sense of freedom. Half brushwork, half finger painting, you never know how the watercolor is going to move around the paper. I begin with an idea and lay down splashes of color to see what they form. This one took the look of the morning sun rising over a break in the pines very early on. It’s a very tactile experience.
