This image is based on a photograph I took of a very calm evening with soft, almost creamy light. And, quite unexpectedly, in this reflective moment, a loon quietly surfaced and looked back, almost as if he were looking back on the day. After a moment, he dove out of sight, as quietly as he arrived with hardly a ripple.
