Fun, Easy, Versatile Layered Mixed Media Art
Workshop description: This workshop will introduce you to many layering techniques in mixed-media art. We will be using fabrics, papers, paints, inks, laces, and other fibers to create either a stand-alone art piece or elements to use in dimensional, textural art. Pieces created by prior class participants have ranged from abstract art to elements from nature and even portraits. The choice will be yours. I will show you many possible applications prior to us getting started! This workshop is for any level of competency.
Participant supply list: Protective covering for table (a plastic tablecloth or large thick garbage bag), scissors for cutting fabric and paper, paper towels or other towel if you like wiping your hands periodically.
Optional: Acrylic paints in colors you may want to work in. They can be inexpensive ones from Walmart. I will be bringing a tub of paints. I may not have the colors you prefer. 100% cotton fabric scraps at least 1 inch wide… in colors you like; I will have some as well to share. Decorative trims and laces only if you have them. Please don’t buy them. Apron to protect your clothes. Latex or Nitril gloves to protect your hands. Rubbing plates (if you don’t have them, there will be a few to share.) Decorative scissors (if you don’t have them, there will be a few to share.) 4 Bed Risers for table legs if you prefer to create while standing.
